Summer Football begins with the CLC Passing Tournament

Twelve Milaca Football players participated in the second annual Central Lakes College 7 on 7 passing tournament in Brainerd on June 27th.
The Wolves lost to Brainerd in the first round in a very close matchup.  Holdingford pulled out some last second points to slip by the Wolves in the second round.  In the third round Milaca faced Pierz and lead most of the game but was defeated in the final minutes of the game.

Players competing in the tournament included:  Jim Peterson, Tyler Norrgard, Travis Hanenburg, Keenan Hayes, JT Johnson, Travis Bertram, Sam Johnson, Jake Sahlstrom, Elliot Hass, Mitch Ruis, Cody Goor, and Marcus Hanenburg.  Click on the PHOTOS button to see all the action at the passing tournament, courtesy of Bob Bunger

Football 2009 ….  It is Time to Get Started!

Mark your calendars with the following important dates to take advantage of opportunities to become a better football player for the fall of 2009.  Individual camps, team camps, weight training, passing league and passing tournaments are all on the summer calendar.  Some important dates to remember:

Spring Meeting:  May 19th 10 am
Weight Room opens for the summer:  June 15th 6:00 am
Linemen competition at Melrose:  TBA
Central Lakes Passing Tournament:  June 27th
Milaca Passing League Practice:  July 5th 6 pm
Milaca Passing League:  July 12, 19, 26th 6 - 8:30 pm
Winona Team Camp: July 19 - 22
Milaca Team Camp: July 27-28-29 Grades 7-9 3 - 5 pm Grades 9-12 6 - 8:30 pm
Opening Day of practice: August 17th 7:00 am

Individual camp dates at St. Cloud State University will be handed out at the spring meeting, along with information about other individual camps offered throughout the summer.

Milaca Football Moves to New Section Alignment - 7 AAA

The Minnesota State High School League has recently released the new section assignments for football.  Milaca will be moving north to Section 7 AAA.  The Wolves will join:  Mora, Pine City, Proctor, Two Harbors, Aitkin, International Falls, and Virginia.  Proctor was the section champion in 2008 losing to New London - Spicer in the first round of the State AAA tournament.  The Wolves are excited about the new section alignment and look forward to facing new competition.  Milaca will be leaving Section 6 AAA where Foley, Albany and New London - Spicer will remain to battle for the Section 6 championship.
