The Wolves opened the season with a 22-20 win over Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City on Friday night. it was the first time Milaca has faced ACGC with a game that will be remembered for quite some time. The Wolves jumped off to a early 6-0 lead on an 85 yard run by Sr. Captain, Sam Johnson on the second play of the game. Sam took the ball on a dive play and broke several tackles before racing up the sideline for the early touchdown. It was then Sr. Captain, Mitch Ruis' turn as he carried the ball into the end zone on a 4 yd run. Mitch also added the 2 point conversion on a run to bring the score to 14-0.

The momentum quickly changed as ACGC rallied with two unanswered touchdowns in the second quarter on 4 and 18 yard runs and a conversion pass to tie the score at 14-14 going into the locker room for half time. The Falcons came back out in the 3rd and added another touchdown on a 2 yd run, leaving the score 20-14. With the Wolves facing a 3rd and long from their own 32 yard line, Mitch Ruis took the handoff from Brandon Kiel on a counter play, and carried the ball 68 yards for a Wolves touchdown. Kiel added the 2 extra points to put Milaca up 22-20. ACGC had several opportunities in the remaining 10 minutes, but Milaca's defense made some big plays to stop the Falcons, including a game ending interception by Riley Sikkink to secure the win for the Wolves.

7th Annual Alumni Football Golf Tournament Results
The golfers at the 7th annual Alumni Football Tournament played through the heat last Sunday to support the Milaca Football program. The 90 degree heat didn’t slow down the team of Joel Patnode, Laura Broberg, Dave Broberg and Tony Hass as they took first place honors squeezing out a one stroke win over the Class of 2000 team made up of Josh Nelson, Jake Johnson, Zach Gahm and Casey Hoehn.
The golf tournament has become an annual event to help support the Milaca Football Program. This year’s efforts are set to help replace the game jerseys for the 7-8th grade football teams. With the generous support of many businesses in the Milaca area, the golf tournament was a great success. On behalf of coaching staff and football program we would like to sincerely thank this year's sponsors and the golfers that participated in this year's event.

7 AAA Playoff Bracket set Milaca vs Mora 1st Round
Sat, October 24, 2009 - Posted by Coach Johnson
The 7 AAA section playoff picture has finally been set. Milaca will play Mora in the first round of the section tournament. After moving from section 6 AAA where teams are basically made up of the West Central Conference, Milaca will still face a West Central opponent as they take on the Mustangs in Mora on Tuesday, Oct. 27th at 7 pm. Pine City and Mora ended the regular season with identical 6-2 records but Pine City will get the number 1 seed in the south half of the section on a predetermined tie-breaker. Pine City will take on Aitkin, the number 4 seed in the first round.
In the north half, number 1, Greenway-Nashwauk-Keewatin will take on number 4 Two Harbors. Virginia and Proctor will battle in the 3 and 4 spot. Winners will meet in the second round at the site of the highest seed on Sat. Oct. 31st at 2 pm. If Miiiaca beats Mora and Greenway wins... the next game would be at Greenway, a Greenway loss to Two Harbors would bring the game to Milaca. The finals are set to be played in Duluth on November 6th.
