Milaca Football Camps for all ages ! July 28-29-30

Milaca Football Camps will run for grades 3-12 on July 28-29-30.
Times will be as follows:
Grades 3-4-5 1:00 - 2:45 pm Report to Claffy Field Cost $25 includes camp shirt Sign up in the Community Ed. Office or Call 982-7186 You may also sign up at the field
Grades 6-7-8 3:00 - 4:45 pm Report to Claffy Field Cost $25 includes camp shirt Sign up in the Community Ed. Office or Call 982-7186 You may also sign up at the field
Grades 9-12 6:00 - 8:30 pm Report to Claffy Field This is a full padded camp.
Bring equipment that you checked out this spring. If you do not have equipment, you can check it out at the camp. Come at 5:30 pm to check out shoulder pads and helmets.

Weight Room Time Change 6 - 7:15 PM

The weight room times will be changing to the evening starting JUNE 28th ! Athletes should report to the football practice field at 6 PM. Speed work, agility, lifting and razzle time will run until 7:15 pm. Times have been changed in an attempt to allow more athletes an opportunity to be involved with speed and strength training. The sessions are open to athletes in grades 8-12. The weight room will be CLOSED July 1st - 7th. Workouts will resume on July 9th.
Final Plans being made for Winona State Football Team Camp

It is not to late to be involved with the team camp being held at Winona State University on July 18-21. Thirty players are currently registered to go and we have room for more. This is a full contact camp with coaching instruction for individuals, team practice and team scrimmage time. Milaca has taken teams to this camp the past 3 years and joined over 12 other teams and 400+ players. If you are still interested in this camp but have not turned in a registration form, email me at: randy.johnson@milaca.k12.mn.us or call 320-556-3349 Cost for the 3 day camp is $175, this includes all cost including transportation to the camp. We will be leaving Milaca at 11:30 am on July 18th and return about 4 pm on July 21st. Please email or call if you have any further questions.
Weight Room Opens June 7th

It's time to get ready for another Season of the Game you Love the Most !
Weight Room set to open for the summer on June 7th ! The summer speed and strength training will officially begin on June 7th. Athletes in grades 7-12 are invited to be a part of the program, there is NO fee. Athletes should meet at the football field at 6:15 AM beginning on Monday, June 7th. Training sessions will be held on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays throughout the summer. Sessions will run from 6:15 am to 7:45 am. Athletes should come prepared with shorts, t-shirt and good running shoes. Coach Sommerlot will be supervising the program for the summer with the other members of the football staff. A registration signature will be required, athletes may pick up this form the first day they attend. Athletes will only be allowed access to the weight room through the band room door on the north side of the building. Students are not allowed to access the building through any other doors. Dates Set for Summer Football Camps

Milaca Football players will have the opportunity to travel to Winona State University to participate in the 2010 Team Camp to be held July 18-21.
This will be the 4th year that Milaca has taken part in this team camp. Last year 33 players in grades 9-12 competed against 16 other teams and over 400 players from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois in a 3 1/2 day team camp. The camp provides skill development at all positions on both offense and defense. Players will also work skills in groups and with their own team to prepare for live scrimmages. Players will travel to Winona by bus without additional cost to the players. Registration cost is $175 for all fees, equipment, food, lodging. Players will have to have a current physical on file and provide proof of insurance to participate.
Wolves End of the Season Awards 2009

The 2009 season came to an end as the Wolves lost to state Tournament bound - Mora, 27-21 in OT in the Section 7 AAA playoffs. Mora went on to the state semi-finals before losing to Glencoe-Silver Lake. The Wolves ended with a 3-6 record with 3 of those losses to teams that were in the state semi-finals. The Wolves Football team held their annual Awards Banquet and presented the following awards for 2009:

Wolves season ends on OT loss to Mora in Section 7AAA

The roller coaster ride continued through the first round of the section 7AAA playoff game as Mora ended Milaca's season in a 27-21 overtime game. Mora won the first half with a 21-7 score. Milaca won the second half tying the score at 21-21 at the end of the game. Mora won the toss in the OT and stopped the Wolves on 4 plays. The Mustangs then went off tackle on a great run to pick up the touchdown in the overtime win. The loss ends the season for the Wolves while Mora goes on to play Greenway-Nashwauk-Keewatin in the semi-final game to be held at Mora at 2 pm on Sat. Oct. 31st. In the other south half game, Pine City defeated Aitkin 22-6. In the north half of the section, Greenway defeated Two Harbors and Virginia defeated Proctor.
